Hard Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a wear-resistant and impact-resistant plastic layer that is glued (pressed) onto board material in our factory afterwards. We use MDF as the base plate to glue the HPL onto. HPL consists of a layer of synthetic resin (melamine) impregnated paper that is pressed under very high pressure and temperature. The melamine resin is a hard synthetic material. Therefore HPL has a hard top layer. Due to the hard top layer, HPL is highly scratch and wear resistant as well as chemical and heat resistant.
